Describe what you do at OGenie: 

I’m fortunate to work as part of an exceptional team of talented and dedicated Genieuses to co-run OGenie. My work is diverse and exciting because I develop, implement and evaluate, lead key initiatives within the technical and marketing like and much more. Mix in office scrums, college sessions and tech events and it’s never a dull day with Genie.

I’m very thankful for all the supportive experts we have at OGenie!

What are you currently working on?

Expanding our boundaries- from making travel effortless to making life effortless, wherever possible, with the right set of tech & tools.

What do you enjoy the most about working for OGenie? 

I enjoy that we are a relatively small and very friendly team that is up for challenges & learning.

What challenges have you dealt with that you are most proud of? 

Work accomplishments are great to celebrate, but I’m most proud of the way we as a team turned around overnight during these uncertain times. How from a pure travel tech company we made the switch instantly to being a corporate travel management solution & a tech solutions provider. From SaaS to AIaaS. 

Besides the small, yet meaningful strides I’ve made towards the ever-elusive goal of balancing work, family/friends and self-care.

What’s happening in the travel industry?

AI, ML, Big Data, Cloud Computing have been causing disruptions across industries but Travel is one industry where the impact has been prominent. Travel companies, whether it’s an established entity or a start-up like ours are relying on tech-based innovations, harnessing the power of technology to bring some major changes to the sector, working on to make travel an effortless experience.  

What's preventing India’s travel-tech industry to reach its true potential?

Despite the progress, the journey to India becoming a tech-hub is a long one. As I’m talking about it I remember a poem by Robert Frost- Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,   

But I have promises to keep,   

And miles to go before I sleep,   

And miles to go before I sleep.”

Although the impact of technology is far-reaching, only a fraction of India’s total population is well-acquainted with the digital concept. Especially for those residing in rural areas, having even a smartphone is considered a luxury. Fortunately, the scenario is changing and fast.

How do you like to recharge?

Being active, I walk down from home to the office while listening to tech podcasts. Spending time with my kids Swaarnim & Harmony. Brainstorming. 

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

J.A.R.V.I.S. Create software that understands my requirements and get things done, instantaneously. OGenie is the beginning of it.

What was a favourite vacation or trip you’ve taken? 

A business trip cum vacation as all 4 of us Ankit, Jai, Santosh & me went to Lisbon, Portugal for the Web Summit with our spouse.
