COVID-19 Guidelines Issued For Passengers

From Origin To The Airport

  • Familiarize yourselves about new procedures at the airport.
    • Social distancing.
    • Minimum touch.
    • Baggage limitation.
    • COVID-19 declaration.
    • Registering on Aarogya Setu Application.
    • Digital payments.
    • Use of authorized cabs.
  • Expect slower processes to avoid a last-minute rush to the airport.
  • Download the baggage tag/ baggage identification number.
  • You are entitled to carry a maximum of one hand baggage and one checked-in baggage as per specifications by the airlines.
  • Before entering the terminal, you have to wear protective gear as per prevailing requirements.
  • Report at the airport as per revised reporting time i.e. 2 hours before departure time.
  • You should travel in an authorized cab/personal vehicle following MHA norms.
  • You are expected to certify the status of their health through the Aarogya Setu application or a self-declaration form.
  • Print the baggage tag and affix it to the bag at a prominent place. In case you’re unable to print the baggage tag, write the PNR number and name of the passenger (mentioned on the ticket) boldly on a piece of thick paper and affix to the bag or tag it with a string.
  • You’re not allowed to travel if
    • You’re staying in a containment zone.
    • Tested positive for COVID-19.
  • If you’re not permitted to fly and then also undertake an air journey you shall be liable for penal action.
  • The airline shall ensure that the boarding pass is issued only after the health declaration has been made by the passenger.

Entering The Terminal Building

  • You’re required to be wearing a face mask before you get down from your vehicle and continue to do so throughout the journey.
  • Walk in the forecourt area for thermal screening facility near the entry gate and get checked for temperature by the designated airport staff.
  • Display the Aarogya Setu app status to the staff.
  • In case of non-availability to the app, the staff will direct you towards the counter where the Aarogya Setu app can be downloaded.
  • Once done, you can move on to the CISF counter at the entry checkpoint.
  • You need to display your ID card, boarding pass/e-boarding pass and then only the CISF staff will allow you to enter and you shall proceed to the baggage drop counter.
  • Display your PNR and ID card to the baggage drop counter staff including the one printed and attached on your baggage for the staff to confirm, print the baggage tag attached to it and accept the bag.
  • You’ll receive an e-receipt in the form of an SMS.

Security

  • You’ll be guided to walk through the pre-embarkation security screening.
  • Follow the directions as announced by the authorities.
  • Divest of all metal on your body to facilitate security screening.
  • Bring only one hand luggage as per the size and weight specified by the airline.
  • Cooperate with the security staff as they practice ‘minimum touch’ to reduce physical contact.

Security Hold Area

  • You’ll have to proceed to the security hold post the security screening.
  • Maintain social distancing and sanitization protocols while in the area. Do not occupy chairs marked ‘Not For Use’.
  • Maintain hygiene, practice social distancing, and be aware of the sanitizer locations while moving around F&B, retail outlets, etc.
  • You should dispose of all the biohazardous materials such as used masks, gloves, tissues, etc. in yellow-colored bins/bags placed at strategic locations.

Boarding

  • Pay attention to the various health advisory communication material displayed at the airport relating to pre-boarding and in-flight precautions.
  • Collect your safety kit (three-layered surgical mask, face shield & sanitizer) from the airlines counter near the boarding gate.
  • Wear the mask, face shield and sanitize your hand before proceeding to the boarding gate for scanning of your boarding pass.
  • Pay attention to the boarding announcements and reach the queue and stand in the queue maintaining social distance.
  • You’ll be required to self scan your e-boarding pass.
  • Show your ID card to the airline boarding staff.
  • Board the aircraft in a sequential manner as per the airline announcement.

In-Flight

  • Maintain hygiene and sanitation during the entire flight.
  • Minimize face-to-face interaction.
  • Minimize the use of the lavatory and avoid non-essential movement.
  • Do not queue at the lavatory. Only 1 attendee for children/elderly.
  • No meal service available in the aircraft. You’re not allowed to consume any eatables inside the aircraft.
  • The Water bottle will be made available in the gallery area or on the seats.
  • No on-board sale of any time to reduce physical contact.
  • If you or any other passenger feels uncomfortable, fatigued or has a cough, immediately bring it in the notice of the crew.

Arrival

  • Sequential disembarkation. You’re advised to follow the instructions and not rush to the exit gate.
  • Maintain social distance and sanitization at the arrival gate, aerobridges, coaches, jet ladders, ramp, etc.
  • Use trolleys in the arrival area sparingly.

Baggage Collection

  • Wait in batches at the baggage hold area.
  • If you are a transit passenger, you are to remain in the transit area.

Airport Exit

  • Use authorized cab maintaining the prescribed hygiene protocols.
  • Follow social distancing and while travelling via any mode of transportation.
  • At arrival destination, adhere to the State/UT health protocols.

General Guidelines

  • Reach the airport 2 hours before the scheduled departure.
  • Passengers who have departed in the next 4 hours will only be allowed to enter the terminal building.
  • Wearing of protective gear is compulsory for all passengers.
  • All the departing passengers must be registered with the Aarogya Setu app. Registration is not necessary for children below 14.
  • Passengers with the status ‘Red’ on the Aarogya Setu app will not be permitted to travel.
  • A walk through the screening zone is compulsory for all passengers.
  • Only limited operations permitted on the day of commencement of flights (about 1/3).
  • Further augmentation to be done in a calibrated manner.
  • Airlines will not provide in-flight meal service.
  • Cabin crew to be in full protective gear.
  • Only 1 check-in bag allowed.
  • Minimize use of baggage and trolleys.
  • State government and local administration to ensure the availability of public transport and public taxis.
  • For staff and passenger, commute to and from the airport only by personal vehicle or authorized transport service with permitted restricted seating.
  • Hand sanitizer to be made available at various airport locations.
  • All F&B and retail outlets to be opened maintaining all COVID-19 precautions. Take-aways to be encouraged and promote digital payment system.
  • The elderly, pregnant ladies and kids under 6 years of age should avoid traveling.
  • Asymptomatic passengers will be permitted to go with the advice that they shall self-monitor their health for 14 days. In case, they develop any symptoms, they shall inform the district surveillance officer or the state/national call center (1075).
  • If positive, they will continue in COVID Care Centre and will be managed as per clinical protocol. If negative, the passenger may be allowed to go home, isolate himself/herself and self monitor his/her health for a further 7 days. In case, any symptoms develop they shall inform the district surveillance officer or the state/national call center (1075).
